The automatically working oil barrier on smaller stretches of flowing water consists of four basic units: A) screen (1) for drift material B) impulse transmitter (7) C) oil-separating beam (15) D) pump cabinet (2). An automatically working oil barrier is constructed by combining these units with one another. The oil barrier automatically removes oil contaminants appearing at any time, feeds the oil separated from the water to an oil-collecting chamber (4) and supplies the cleaned water to the flowing stretch of water. <IMAGE>
