1283477 Trypsin; pancreatin COLGATEPALMOLIVE CO 6 March 1970 [19 March 1969] 10871/70 Heading C3H [Also in Division C5] Trypsin is prepared by: (i) comminuting freshfrozen animal pancreas glands; (ii) extracting with a C 1 or C 2 alcohol (methanol or ethanol per se or in aqueous solution); (iii) treating the liquid extract with a water-immiscible solvent (e.g. n-butanol or diethyl ether); (iv) precipitating the trypsin from the liquid with a C 1 or C 2 alcohol or a water-soluble ketone (e.g. acetone) at below 10‹ C.; and (v) recovering the enzyme (e.g. by filtration). The residue from (ii) may be extracted with acetone and dried, to give pancreatin. The trypsin may be incorporated in detergent compositions. |
