PURPOSE:To eliminate toxicity problems, to enhance sensitivity, and to stabilize characteristics at the time of repeated used by forming a photosensitive layer contg. a specified azo compd. on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer formed on the conductive substrate contains as a carrier transfer material an azo compd. represented by formula I in which Ar is a group of formula II or III; and R11-R14, R21-R27 are each H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, OH, amino, dialkylamino, cyano, nitro, or the like. Such a photosensitive layer may be a single layer contg. said carrier transfer material together with a carrier generating material, or a functionally separated type composite layers. The formation of the photosensitive layer contg. such as azo compd. as the carrier transfer material permits sensitivity to be high, characteristics at the time of repeated used to be stable, toxicity problems to be eliminated, and thus, a superior photosensitive body to be obtained. |
