PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a cooler and to reduce the size of a device by erasing the after-image by the residual radiation energy, etc. of a phosphor sheet to be repeatedly used by the light of an LED array thereby decreasing calorific value even if the light is irradiated with the LED array in proximity to said sheet. CONSTITUTION:After the accumulative phosphor sheet is read with an information reader, the sheet is placed on an erasing devices for the residual radiation energy. The LED array 3 is provided as the light source for the erasing device 5 and the length of the LED array 3 is matched with the width of the sheet 1. While the sheet 1 is moved by a pair of rollers 2A, 2B, the light of 400-600nm wavelength is irradiated from the LED array 3 to erase the after-image by the residual radiation energy. Since the after-image is erased by the LED array, the light can be irradiated in proximity to the sheet with the decreased calorific value and the need for the cooler is eliminated. The need for a high-voltage power source is eliminated as well and the size of the device is reduced.
