In a method of fitting a window pane 1 to vehicle bodywork 3, a sealing profile 2 is interposed between the pane 1 and a body flange 8, the sealing profile comprising an elastic core 5 with a permanently plastic self-adhesive covering 6. The edge of the pane is engaged by a clip 4 and a bolt 9 is used to compress a spring clip 11 so as to apply a desired pretensioning to the pane.
