PURPOSE:To obtain the titled printing wire having superior toughness by subjecting a rolled coil of a low C steel having a specified composition to soln. heat treatment, drawing to a prescribed size and precipitation hardening by aging. CONSTITUTION:A steel having a composition consisting of, by weight, <=0.03% C, <=0.01% Si, <=0.10% Mn, 12.0-14.0% Ni, 9.0-11.0% Mo, 13.0-16.0% Co, 0.01-0.50% Al, 0.1-0.5% Ti and the balance Fe with impurities is rolled and coiled. This coil is subjected to soln. heat treatment, drawing to about 0.3mm prescribed diameter at >=60% reduction of area, and precipitation hardening to >=740 hardness Hv by aging at about 480 deg.C. By this method a printing wire for a dot printer having superior toughness and wear resistance as well as satisfactory hardness is obtd. |
