The connector consists of two half-connectors, one comprising the fixed contacts (2) and the other the movable contacts (11), which can be connected together by means of a snap-locking system (50-150) such that the fixed contacts are associated with the movable contacts with a certain contact pressure. The device comprises means (101-131) making it possible to ensure during the connecting of each connector an automatic positioning of the fixed contacts opposite the movable contacts after the set of movable contacts has undergone a rotation relative to the set of fixed contacts. This rotation ensures a self-cleaning of the contact surfaces. The tenon/mortice system (101-131) also acts as a self-polarising device. <IMAGE>
