PURPOSE:To reduce the velocity of a thermal head at the time of collision against a platen roller and thereby prevent vibration generated in the platen roller and the attendant deterioration of images from occurring, by turning an operating member by a cam driven by a rotary solenoid. CONSTITUTION:When the rotary solenoid 11 is excited, the cam 12 is rotated in the direction of an arrow (e), the operating member 13 is rotated in the direction of an arrow (f) while sliding on the outer periphery of the cam 12, and a spring 13 is concurrently pulled to turn a head support member 5 in the direction of an arrow (g). Thus, when the thermal head 1 is pressed against the platen roller 4 through an ink sheet 3 and a recording paper 2, the velocity of the head 1 in pressing against the roller 4 is reduced immediately before the contact with the roller 4, due to the cross-sectional shape of the cam 12. Thereafter, the flexure of the spring 8 obtained by the displacement of a tip part of the member 13 in the direction of the arrow (f) is converted into a force for pressing the head 1 against the roller 4. |
