PURPOSE:To detect abnormality of a device itself by providing a signal generating device which generates a signal different in waveform and frequency from a signal generated when a tool is abnormal. CONSTITUTION:When the tool is abnormal, a generated AE (acoustic emission) wave is passed through a mounting material 5 and converted by a piezoelectric element 4 into an electric signal, which is sent to a processing circuit to cope with the abnormality; and a piezoelectric element 6, wiring 7, and transmitter 9 are further provided in this case and the element 6 as a signal generating device is excited by the oscillator 9 to transmit a signal of higher frequency than the oscillation of a machine system all the time. Then, this signal is detected by the element 4 and sent to the 1st filter 11 and when a decrease in level is recognized, an abnormality output part 15 outputs a signal indicating that a tool breakage detecting device itself is abnormal. Consequently, abnormality of the sensor, wiring, etc., is detected and treated, and a stable, reliable work cell is expected. |
