PURPOSE:To facilitate the handling of the matrices each interposed between a fuel electrode and an air electrode and simplify the supply of the electrolyte by forming each of the matrices by a sack-like porous thin film and sealing the electrolyte in the matrices. CONSTITUTION:Each unit cell for a fuel cell is formed by interposing a matrix between gas diffusion electrode 1 and 2 having fuel gas flow paths and air flow paths. The matrix is formed by placing a nonporous spacer 7 between the peripheral areas of two porous thin films 6 so that an electrolyte can be sealed in the matrix. Besides, the matrix is provided with supply holes 8 and connection tubes 9 through which the electrolyte is supplied from outside. After thus formed unit cells are stacked together, the electrolyte is poured from an electrolyte supply container 10 into the matrices to supply the electrolyte to the electrodes 1 and 2 through the fine holes of the thin films 6 thereby producing battery reaction. As a result, assembly of the matrices and supply of the electrolyte are facilitated, thereby stabilizing the quality of the fuel cell. |
