The wires formed into a brush should have sufficient rigidity that they can come into contact with ease against the moving material strip at its actual speed. The material in the wires must not be so hard that the brush causes scratches or other damage in surface. Suitable brush material consists of metallised textile threads of natural or synthetic fibres, spun or as mono-filaments. The most appropriate method for metallising the wires or threads is by vacuum application of aluminium.
