PURPOSE:To obtain an electronic timepiece which allows ceaseless operation requiring no battery change, by halting the time display operation by a illumination intensity drop detection signal while the time display operation is returned by a detection signal that the charge level by a solar cell is higher than the specified value. CONSTITUTION:When a timepiece is left alone in a drawer of a desk or the like, the output of an illumination intensity detecting circuit 30 inverts to 0 to turn OFF an AND gate 29 while a timer 31 starts operation and after a specified time passes, the driving of a pulse motor 19 is halted to stop the time display operation while the results of time counting is memorized into an increment/decrement counter 23. The timepiece is taken out and as the charged voltage reaches a specified value with the charging of a charger 10 by a solar cell 11, the output of a voltage detection circuit 21 inverts to 1 and an RS type flip flop 32 is reset through a gate 29 by the output and the output inverted to 1 of the circuit 21 to perform a quick feed time correction and the time display operation is returned. This eliminates the need for change of the battery to obtain an electronic timepiece which allows ceaseless operation normally. |
