PURPOSE:To produce an essential oil, in high yield, by culturing the tissue of a specific plant, selecting the cell using the main component of the essential oil produced and accumulated in the obtained callus as an index, and culturing the selected callus. CONSTITUTION:A plant belonging to Pelargonium genus, Salvia genus or Viola genus (preferably Viola genus) is cultured, and the cell strain having high content of the main component of the essential oil is selected from the obtained callus by the functional evaluation by the specialist of perfumery and instrumental analysis, and the selected callus is cultured. A flavor for high-class cosmetic, soap, or food can be prepared by this process in high efficiency. |
