PRODUCTION OF OPTICAL BRANCHING DEVICE FOR PLASTIC FIBER

PURPOSE:To form easily an optical branching sheet to a prescribed shape even if the outside diameter of a waveguide is small, by punching the optical branching sheet to a prescribed shape and forming a punched body with molding tools by thermal pressure molding. CONSTITUTION:The optical branching sheet having the optical waveguide characteristic is punched to a prescribed shape to obtain a body 7 to be molded. This body 7 to be molded is arranged in a forming groove 10' of a bottom force 11' of molding tools, and a top force 11 is pressed to the bottom force 11' while heating both forces 11 and 11', and the body 7 to be molded is fused half by heat and pressure and is deformed along shapes of forming grooves 10 and 10'.
