PURPOSE:To maintain the temperature of a piston body made of aluminum allow materials at a temperature below a serviceable limit temperature, by connecting a piston crown made of ceramic materials or the like with the piston body through the intermediary of a heat insulating layer which is formed by laminating zirconia thin plates one upon another. CONSTITUTION:A piston crown 18 made of materials of heat-resistant steel, heat-resistant alloy, ceramic, etc. is connected with an alluminum alloy piston body 19 through the intermediary of a heat insulating plate 17 composed of zirconia thin plates 11, 12. With this arrangement even if the temperature of combustion chamber side of the piston becomes high, the aluminum alloy piston body is maintained at a temperature below a serviceable limit temperature. |
