PURPOSE:To perform recording without any step from the beginning by controlling the step to eliminate a step difference between both heads varying a voltage applied to the bimorph of one head so that the point of time when the peak value of a playback pilot signal coincides with a predetermined point of time. CONSTITUTION:A mode signal 101 turns a changeover switch 3 to the side of a terminal R to place a head A in a recording state when the head A traces a magnetic tape once while displaced according to the saw-tooth wave signal of a saw-tooth wave generating circuit 2. The head A records a pilot signal, then a head B traces the pilot signal recording track without any displacement by its bimorph to reproduce the pilot signal. The head B traces the track at a different angle from the head A and the timing at which the peak value of the reproduced pilot signal is obtained is adjusted to control the step between the heads A and B. Consequently, the step control is performed in a short time to perform normal recording without any step all the time. |
