PURPOSE:To protect magnetic recording layer against the influence of moisture and to improve the durability thereof by consisting protective layers of the coated films of the colloidal particle dispersion of silicon condensation product. CONSTITUTION:An alloy such as MnBi or MnAlGe is formed to an ordinary thickness by a sputtering method, etc. as the magnetic recording layer 12 for photomagnetic recording on a substrate 11 consisting of glass, resin, etc. The substrates are adhered to each other by an adhesive agent, etc. in such a manner that the magnetic recording layers 12, 12' are positioned on the inner side to face each other. Writing is executed from the rear side of the substrates 11, 11'. The protective layers 13, 13', 14, 14' are provided on and/or below the layers 12. The protective layers are made of the coated films of the colloidal particle dispersion of silicon condensation product. The recording medium has the protective layers consisting of the coated films of the colloidal particle dispersion of silicon condensation product on and/or below the magnetic recording layers in the above-mentioned manner and therefore the resistance to moisture is improved, the deterioration with lapse of time after long-term use at and under a high-temp. and high humidity is decreased and the durability is improved. |
