PURPOSE:To aim at improving the cold-starting ability of an engine and at reducing the amount of emission of white smoke, by lasting the energization of an intake-air heating means until a predetermined time elapses from the time when a key switch is set at its accessory position after completion of start of the engine. CONSTITUTION:When a key switch is set at its starter position, at step 2 a heater electrical switch is closed so that a PCT heater generates heat. At step 6 the time Ta of afterheat is determined in accordance with the temperature Tw of cooling water. Until a predetermined time Taset elapses from the time when the key switch is set at its accessory position, step 7 is repeated. Thus, the afterheat is carried out for a predetermined time after the starting of the engine so that it is possible to aim at improving the cold-starting ability of the engine and at reducing the amount of emission of white smoke. |
