Each table (1, 2) has a notch (9, 10) at its end (2a) orientated towards each other, under their tightening faces (2c), and in the zone of a corresponding rack bar (4, 5). Each rack bar ends at a distance (a) from a frontal face at the respective nothch. A piece (11) is inserted in the notches and has a rack bar segment (12) on its lower face aligned with, but separate from, the table rack bars. Couplings (13, 14) are placed respectively between each table and the insertion piece so that the latter can be coupled either to the two tables simultaneously or to each one separately. USE - To extend a machine tool table working length outside its tightening length.
