PURPOSE:To enable to enahance precision and efficiency in precision molding, by evacuating residual air from the interior of a metallic mold through an evacuation hole immediately before the mold is closed. CONSTITUTION:A metallic mold comprising a cover body 3 provided on the other periphery of a fixed platen 1 and connected to a vacuum pump through the evacuation hole 4 and a pipe 4' is fitted to an injection molding machine. When a movable platen 2 having a corresponding mold approaches the fixed platen 1, the outer periphery of the movable platen 2 in fitted into the cover body 3, and approaches the fixed platen 1 while making sliding contact with the cover body 3. Immediately before the movable platen 2 thus approaching comes into contact with the fixed platen 1 so that the molds are closed, an evacuating mechanism is operated to evacuate air contained in the mold through the hole 4. Since air remaining between the fixed platen 1 and the movable platen 2 brought into close contact with each other is evacuated, a synthetic resin being injected into the mold does not receive resistance of residual air in the mold. Accordingly, a synthetic resin article faithful to the target precision of the mold can be rapidly molded. |
