The cartridge type mixing valve with a fixed disc (2) underneath a moving disc (4) operated by the control handle, has two side by side entry holes (21,22) and a larger outlet hole (23) in the fixed disc. The moving disc has a slotted hole (41) forming a mixing chamber, which is moved selectively above the holes to control the flow and temperature. Inside this chamber, under a cover plate, is an impact element (F) to break up the flows as they are mixed. The impact element can be a shaped strip or sieve occupying the full depth of the chamber. It can be zig-zag shaped, V shaped or cross shaped and can be made of perforated strip. In further alternatives it can rectangular or cylindrical.
