The invention relates to a method and to a machine for automatic bagging of flat, flexible objects which are initially folded into a quadrant shape. A first quadrant shape is taken up by a retractable tray which, by virtue of a circular stop, causes it to fall down into an identical position on a lower tray 30. After this tray 30 has rotated through 180 DEG , a second quadrant shape is placed on this lower tray 30 and is positioned head-to-tail relative to the first one. The pair of quadrant shapes is then inserted into a bag which is semi-formed from a film folded into two by means of a pin 60, the said bag then being closed in a frame 100 by heat sealing. The invention applies more particularly to the automatic bagging of pre-folded pancakes. <IMAGE>
