PURPOSE:To obtain a silver halide emulsion high in sensitivity and sharpness and low in fog by treating silver halide grains having a compsn. higher in the speed of dissolution in a silver halide solvent in the inside of each grain than in its surface with said solvent and forming connecting voids having through holes from the surface to the inside of each grain. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide grains having a compsn. higher in the speed of dissolution in a silver halide solvent in the inside of each grain than in its surface, such as cubic silver silver chloride grains, are prepared, and regular octahedral silver bromide layers are formed on these grains to prepare an emulsion contg. core-shell type silver halide grains. The silver halide solvent, such as ammonium thiocyanate, is added to this emulsion and they are treated at about 50 deg.C to obtain the silver halide grains having connected voids having through holes from the surface of each grain to its inside. They are desalted and washed with water to obtain a emulsion adjusted to a pAg of 8.5 and a pH of 6.5. The use of this emulsion permits a photographic sensitive material to be exposed, developed, and fixed in a short time, and enhanced in sensitivity. |
