The invention relates to cans or similar containers which are provided with a removable upper lid and, additionally, have an intermediate lid which consists of a thin foil or a thin film and is attached releasably to the upper end of the can body. The intermediate lid has one peripheral and one straight notched or tearing line, which together bound a semicircular removal portion. Additionally attached to the intermediate lid is a finger grip which allows the removal portion to be pulled off along the notched lines. To attach the finger grip, the intermediate lid has a stud-type, hollow integral projection or continuation which is backed by means of an inserted, reinforcing inlay or filler piece which serves to reinforce the hollow projection. The finger grip is connected to the intermediate lid at a preselected point by means of the reinforced projection. Using one finger to pull the finger grip, the semicircular removal portion of the intermediate lid is removed from the can body. The edge remaining in the region of the straight notched line after the removal portion has been pulled off serves as a scraper edge, by means of which excess material can be scraped from a spoon or the like (Figure 3). <IMAGE>
