In order to diagnose the dynamic and static path accuracy of numerically controlled machines, the desired and actual value path curves of two selected axes can be represented on the monitor of the control. The desired and actual values are specifically stored for this purpose and represented true-to-scale superimposed on one another in a coordinate system using the method of axes. It is possible for the individual data to be followed, selected and represented as individual quantities by marking individual desired values with the associated actual values. Selected path segments can be represented enlarged, so that even the smallest deviations can be effectively detected.
