A lifting mechanism for a heald frame of a weaving machine comprises a connecting device which is provided in the transmission path of the movement between a positive dobby and the heald frame. According to the invention, the connecting device arranged for transmitting pulling and pushing forces to the heald frame has two rods which each possess, along one end portion, a plane contact face extending in the longitudinal direction and which are arranged successively in the longitudinal direction with their plane contact faces overlapping and in contact with one another, a clamp which surrounds the two overlapping end portions of the two rods and a screw bolt which is screwed through part of the clamp in such a way that the plane contact faces of the two rods are pressed against one another and the rods are thus fastened to one another.
