The needle-thread brake device (1) consists of clamping elements (14) which are arranged in at least one plane (13) and are elastically movable in portions and the immovable part of which is either arranged between two cover plates (7) or embedded in a supporting body (6). The clamping elements (14) are formed by fibres (5) tapering in a radiating or bunched manner to a point (4), by fibres (5) directed in parallel or by sector-shaped lamellae located in a membrane (16). The stitch hole (3, 10) located in a needle plate or in a feeder (11) is covered at least on one side by the clamping elements (14). The latter exert an additional controlled braking effect on the needle threads introduced into the needle-thread brake device (1). <IMAGE>
