<p>Alkanoic acid derivs. of formula (I) and their salts are new. In (I), R1 is cyano or carbamoyl; R2 is H or halo; R3 is H or lower alkyl; one of R4 and R5 is lower alkyl and the other is H; R6 is H or lower alkyl; R7 is lower alkyl or R6+R7 completes an N-contg. satd. heterocyclic gp. opt. substd. by lower alkyl or opt. protected lower hydroxyalkyl; provided that R2 is halo or R3 is lower alkyl when R1 is CN and R6 and R7 are lower alkyl. - (I) have antiulcer and spasmolytic activity and are useful for treating ulcers and spasm.
