<p>Polymers comprises a polymeric moiety (I) contg. 12.5-80 wt.% resorcinol monobenzoate or derivs. of formula (II), which are reactively bonded to (I). R,R'=H, 1-14C alkyl or alkoxy; and at least one carbon ortho to OH is unsubstd. (I) is bound to the OH gp. of (II) via a linking gp. which includes at least one of ether, carbonate, urethane and min. 2C ester gps. - Pref. the polymers have Mn 1,500-45,000 and contain 2.1mers (II)/mol.; (I) comprises acrylic monomers including glycidyl methacrylate, its epoxy gp. bonding to the OH of (II); and amt. (II) is 20-50 wt.%. They are prepd. by reacting (II) with (I) or with monomer precursors of (I) followed by polymerisation: in both cases esp. bonding between OH of (II) and epoxy of glycidyl methacrylate is involved.</p> |
