摘要 |
The invention relates to cathodically electrodepositable coating compositions which comprise an aqueous dispersion of self-cross-linking resin. The self-cross-linking resin has amine and epoxy groups, and is prepared by reacting the epoxy resin with polyamine at approximately ambient temperature, in which at least 50% of the amine groups have been neutralised with a water-soluble acid. The polyamine contains at least one primary amine group and at least one tertiary amine group. The partly cross- linked resin product can be deposited on a metal substrate and cured at high temperatures to form a coating which offers excellent protection against corrosion, and which has excellent bonding to the substrate. Reference is made to US patent no. 555,676 (Spanish patent application no. 537,083 for: "Process for the preparation of a cathodically electrodepositable coating composition based on epoxy resins and fatty aminopolyamines") lodged on the same day as this in favour of the same applicant.
