The liq. to be distilled is heated and formed under vacuum into a first series of thin sheets of free falling liq. The second series of thin sheets contain free falling cooling liq. and this second series alternates with the first series of sheets in close proximity to one another. - Part of the heated liq. to be distilled is vaporised and passes to the thin sheets of cooling liq. to form liq. distillate. The liq. distillate with cooling liq. is recovered separately from the non-vaporised part of the liq. Both series of sheets pass through liq. redistributors.
