2,6-Dihalo benzoyl derivs. of formula (I), in which X, X1 and X2 are halogen are made by reaction of a cpd. of formula (II) with a cpd. of formula (III), in which A is halogen or OR, and R is 1-4C alkyl, in an inert organic solvent, in presence of a base as acid acceptor, at 0-150 deg.C.
