Method for treating glaucoma and/or reducing the internal pressure of the eye in mammals uses angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors of formula (I) or their physiologically acceptable salts. n = 1 or 2; R = H; 1-8C aliphatic, 3-9C alicyclic, 6-12C aromatic, 7-14C araliphatic or 7-14C alicyclic-aliphatic gps. (all opt. substd.); ORa or SRa; Ra = 1-4C aliphatic, 6-12C aromatic or 5-12 membered heteroaromatic gps., all opt. substd.; R1 = H, 1;6C aliphatic 3-9C alicyclic, 4-13C alicyclic-aliphatic, 6-12C aromatic, 7-16C araliphatic or 5-12 membered heteroaromatic gp. (all opt. substd.) or the side chain, protected where necessary, of a naturally-accurring alpha-amino acid; R2 and R3 = H or 1-6C aliphatic, 3-9C alicyclic, 6-12C aromatic, or 7-16C araliphatic gps. (all opt. substd.); R4 and R5 together complete a mono-, bi- or tri-cyclic heterocyclic system with 5-15C.
