The storage system consists of a driveable towed-array storage device 2 and a towed-array guide tube 3, installed between the pressure body 4 and the cladding or outer skin, the towed-array guide tube 3 extending to approximately above the plane of the propeller 7. By rotation of the towed-array storage drum 2 to the left or right, the towed-array can be deployed or retracted again from both submerged and surfaced submarines. This process is supported by an array deployment aid 9. The towed-array storage device can be designed as a storage drum and, in submarines, is accommodated in the free-flooding external space 1.
