<p>N-(1-(2-(4-methoxy phenyl)ethyl) 4-piperidyl) 1H-benzimidazol -2-amine is made by reaction of N-(2-amino phenyl) N'-(1-(2-(4-methoxy phenyl) ethyl) 4-piperidyl)thio urea with 200-400% excess of mercuric oxide in presence of 0.1-1% sulphur relative to the mercuric oxide, as catalyst. Reaction takes place in an inert organic solvent, e.g. n-butanol, tetrahydrofuran, toluene or mixts. of these, at from 30 deg. C up to reflux temp. The prod. is isolated and purified by conventional methods.</p> |
