Imidazole derivs. of formula (I), their tautomers and acid addn. salts are new. In (I) A, B, C and D are each N, HN, R3N, O=C, HC, HO-C or R3SO2-O-C at least one is NH and one of the others O=C; or at least one is N and one of the others is HO-C, R30-C or R3SO2-O-C; or also when at least 2 of them are N, one of the others can be Cl-C; R1 = NC-CH2O, HOOC-CH2O, R3OOC-CH2O, R3SO2O-, R3SO2NH-, R3SO2N(R3)- or R4O, or when A, B, C and D complete other than imidazo (4,5-c) pyridine, OH; R2 = R3O, R3.R3.N- or RSO; R3 = 1-4C alkyl; R4 = 2-5C alkynyl or, when A, B, C and D complete other than imidazo (4,5-c)pyridine, also 2-5C alkenyl; and R5 = 2-5C alkenyl or alkynyl. - 2-(2-Methoxy-4 -methanesulphonyloxyphenyl) -5H-imidazo (4,5-c)pyridin- 4-one (Ia) is specifically claimed.
