The slice lip of papermaking appts. is adjustable w.r.t. the slice body for varying slice opening width, and is locked in adjusted positions by having a groove receiving a hook on an adjusting arm having a clearance aperture (32) through which passes a bolt threaded into the slice body. The bolt is encompassed by a loading spring for the adjusting arm. The spring operates between the arm and a plug screwed onto the bolt near its head, and screwed onto the exterior of the plug is an adjustable sleeve for limiting release movement of the adjusting arm away from lip.
