PURPOSE:To enhance electrifiability characteristics and absolute sensitivity, and to obtain that sensitivity to the visible and near IR lights by laminating an electrostaic charge generating layer contg. a specified squarium pigment and a charge transfer layer contg. a specified charge transfer material on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:An org. photosensitive layer formed on the conductive substrate is composed of the charge generating layer contg. a squsqrium pigment represented by formula I, V being halogen, methyl, methoxy, nitro, cyano, or the like, n being 0-5, and Y being H, OH, or methyl, and the charge tranfer layer contg. a compd. represented by formula II, R1 being methyl, phenyl, or the like, and R2 being methyl or ethyl. The lamination order may be substrate-the generating layer-the transfer layer or the substrate-the transfer layer-the generating layer. The formation of such a photosensitive layer permits a latent image to be formed at high speed, both of the visible light and the semiconductor laser beams to be used for exposure, for example, when the latent image is formed by synthesizing the image, the difference between potential on the light areas and that on the dark area to be enlarged, and copying quality to be enhanced. |
