The multiple locking mechanism is assembled together with a mortise lock (n), the blocking bolt (f) of which is extended rearwards and is provided with a toothing which, when the blocking bolt is extended, drives the gearwheels (i) and (k). These in turn mesh with toothings of vertically displaceable espagnolettes (g) and (h). When the blocking bolt (f) is extended, the espagnolette (g) is extended upwards and the espagnolette (8) downwards. By means of a movement-reversing lever (d), an espagnolette (e) can also be extended rearwards. The locking mechanism is intended to increase security against break-in. <IMAGE>
