The plastic syphon insert, which can be exchanged in its entirety, can be used as an odour seal in pipe end pieces of sanitary systems, in particular urinal systems. It is composed of a pot-like lower part (111), having an annular receiving space which is formed by the pot outer wall (116) and a central vertical pipe (115) and is intended for the sealing liquid, and of an upper part (112) in the form of a closure cap (122) which is introduced into the lower part and has a submerged pipe (123) which extends from the cap and projects into the annular space for the sealing liquid. The insert upper part (112) is designed in a dimensionally stable manner, whereas at least the outer wall (116) of the insert lower part (111) consists of a soft and adaptable material. At that end of the outer wall which is remote from the floor (114) of the lower part there is arranged a peripheral sealing lip (128) which is directed outwards and away from the floor and, when in use, rests in a sealing manner, in a prestressed state, on the inner wall of the pipe end piece. <IMAGE>
