A flat-seated slide valve has a valve member 7, 9 which controls flow between two orifices 3, 4 in the seat, and which is operatively engaged by a member 12 mounted on flexible blades 14, 15, the valve member being biased by a spring 13. Preferably the part 9 has rounded side walls engaged without play by member 12. The seat block 1 may be of stainless steel, ground and lapped, and the valve member of thermoplastic material, e.g. P.T.F.E., polyethylene or polyamide, which may be filled with graphite or ground glass. The valve may be operated electromagnetically, hydraulically, or mechanically, e.g. by worm and worm-wheel or cone and roller, and as shown is operated manually by a screwed stem through a ball 22. In other embodiments, the valve member is supported by a spring blade (25), Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), fixed to the member 12, and the valve is operated by a bellows (34) through a lever (39). A cavity (28) in the valve member communicates with the working face through two ports (29).</p> |
