PURPOSE:To make the widthwise size of a heat exchanger the same degree as the heat exchanger whose reinforcing plate is not provided with ribs by a method wherein the heat exchanger is made by a structure in which heat transfer fins, located at the inner side of the reinforcing plate, are split into a plurality of pieces and the ribs of the reinforcing plate are projected therebetween. CONSTITUTION:The heat transfer fins, located at both ends of the heat exchanger among the corrugated fin type heat transfer fins 2 provided between flat tubes 3, are split into two pieces 2a, 2b while the heat transfer fins 2a, 2b are soldered to the tubes 3a, 3b respectively. The reinforcing plate 10 is provided with the rib 10a protruding into a space 11 between the heat transfer fins 2a, 2b and the inner surfaces of the reinforcing plate 10 are soldered to the heat transfer fins 2a, 2b. According to such constitution, the end face of the reinforcing plate 10 is located at substantially the same position as the end face of a sheet metal in the widthwise direction of the heat exchanger and whereby the widthwise size of the heat exchanger may be shortened. |
