PURPOSE:To prevent a petroleum tank body from settling down into a foundation ground due to earthquake, by a method wherein a ground improved by means of soil cement is built in the vicinity of a portion right under the side plate of an existing petroleum tank to reinforce the foundation of the petroleum tank against earthquake. CONSTITUTION:A ground in the vicinity of a portion right under a side plate 52 of a petroleum tank 50 is improved by means of soil cement, and said improving range covers from a portion right under the side plate 52 to the center side of the petroleum tank 50. A foundation ground 51 is increased in a support force to prevent destruction of a foundation due to a circular slip and the like. the settling amount of the petroleum tank 50 is decreased to a low value to prevent damage of the petroleum tank 50, and a concentratedly exerting force is dispersed. This increases the support force of a foundation ground to a vertical load concentratedly exerted on a portion right under the side plate, prevents the occurrence of sinking harmful to the petroleum tank, and provides an easy and economical process of reinforcing the foundation of an existing petroleum tank against earthquake. |
