Between a feed end (12) and discharge end (14) are conveying plates (16,18) positioned at slightly different levels. Between the upper level and the lower one is a separating slot (20). The material mixt. is fed into the separator via a hopper terminating in the far end of the upper plate. The plates are part of a trough (10), suspended on a swing structure. - The upper plate forms a section of the trough which is connected by a flexible hose (78) to a plenum chamber (76) supplied with air from a fan. The plenum chamber is enclosed on one side by a perforated wall (82) distributing the air stream to a slot outlet (50) which carries the lighter particles onto the lower plate while the heavier particles drop through the separating slot. |
