摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To obtain a mark reader which has a high degree of freedom with an array of marks to be read and can read easily even those marks arrayed in small pitches, by providing a group of photodetecting elements arrayed on the same substrate and a focusing rod lens array which leads the reflected light to said photodetecting element group from a card. CONSTITUTION:The semiconductor photodetecting element chips 18 such as phototransistors, photodiodes, etc. are arrayed on a substrate 17 in response to the marks 12 of a card 11 to form a group 13 of photodetecting elements. The illumination light sources 14a and 14b are formed by setting LED chips 19a and 19b in an arrangement pitch at least equal to or smaller than that of the chip 18. Then card 11 is illuminated by the sources 14a and 14b, and these sources are set crossing each other on the card 11. While columnar lenses 20a and 20b are set so as to form their focal points on the intersecting point of both light sources. A focusing rod lens array 15 is set so that a focal point at one side is formed on the card 11 together with the other focal point formed on the chip 18 respectively.</p>
