摘要

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for alignment of light axes for optical coupling between a semiconductor laser and an optical waveguide on a board and for optical polishment of the end face of the substrate by forming incorporatedly and semiconductor laser as a light source to the substrate. CONSTITUTION:The semiconductor laser 11 is formed incorporately with the substrate 12, driven by drive current given to electrodes 7, 8 and the laser beam irradiated from the semiconductor laser 1 is made incident on the optical waveguide layer 21 and propagated. A collimating lens 22 is to convert a laser beam having a spread and irradiated from the semiconductor laser 11 into a parallel light. A coupling lens 23 irradiates the layer beam propagated through the layer 21 is oblique upward direction and focuses two-dimensionally. An optical pickup head 9 is arranged so that a laser spot P is positioned on an information recording face of an optical disc.
