PURPOSE:To perform quick and certain tool exchange for the purpose of improving the productivity of tool exchange system by providing a swivel slide and a hand member having a tool attitude turning mechanism to a tool change unit between tool magazines having index circulating planes crossing at right angles each other. CONSTITUTION:A tool change unit 9 is composed of the stand 14 fixed to the floor, the swivel slide 15 which is so provided on the stand 14 as to swivel freely, and the hand members 16 provided on this swivel slide 15 and having a tool attitude turning mechanism for simultaneously holding tools stored in each of a standing tool magazine and a movable type tool magazine and for turning each of their attitudes to perform position change. When tools to be changed each other are circulated and moved to the position facing both of the hand members 16 and are held by gripper, a hand block 42 is separated from one end plate 37. And the tool in the movable type tool magazine is moved upward to be extracted and the tool in the standing tool magazine is moved horizontally to be extracted, swivelling the swivel slide 15 to operate a block 34 for felling and setting upright changing the position of the tool. |
