A group of detectors give electrical signals indicative of the operating conditions of the engine. A second group of detectors detect the passage of the pistons through top dead centre and produce a stop-go signal with two successive level changes separated by an interval of time proportional to the speed of rotation of the engine. An electronic controller connected to the detectors, supplies trigger pulses to cause activation of the ignition coil. The controller uses memory circuits which are modified in response to the level changes in the signals from the second group of detectors each time the engine is started. The precise timing of the ignition signal is modified from the stored values by the information obtained from the first set of transducers on the engine operating conditions.
|
