The process consists in causing the deposition of silicon on the anode by electrolysis in a bath of molten salts based on calcium halides, preferably as a eutectic mixture, in which the silicon is dissolved in the form of derivatives with calcium. The silicon thus obtained is characterised by a very high purity, particularly in that it is practically free of the metals which usually contaminate it.
