The invention relates to an archery or crossbow butt dismountable in a few seconds in a small volume making transport and storage easier. Moreover, the butt allows an efficient braking of the arrows, even when it is wetted. It consists of five elements representing only 2 different geometrical shapes, joined together by the interlocking of 4 similar elements B juxtaposed around a central element A and retained by an outer hoop. Each element is made of two outer layers of synthetic material which trap a textile weft, permitting the efficient braking of arrows, even if the butt is wetted. <IMAGE>
